Ingredients

  • 2 large green plantains peeled and sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • to taste salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. 2. Fry the plantain slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  3. 3. Remove the plantains from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. 4. Flatten each plantain slice using the bottom of a glass or a tostonera.
  5. 5. Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for 1-2 minutes on each side until crispy.
  6. 6. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste and serve immediately.
