Hey. Welcome to our Privacy Policy.
We wrote this to be clear, cool, and helpful, not to make you nap halfway. We believe privacy isn't boring. It’s bold. It matters. So here's everything about how we treat your data, why we collect it, and what happens behind the scenes.
1. Your Data, Our Responsibility
When you hang out with us on mischief.sg, you trust us with pieces of your information. That’s a big deal. We treat it that way. We don’t sell it. We don’t trade it. We don’t sneak around with it. Every click, visit, or recipe browse leaves a tiny mark, and we collect some of that for reasons that help the site work better for everyone.
Some info gets collected automatically:
- Browser type
- Time you visit
- Pages you check
- Stuff you clicked
- Your device model
- IP address
- Rough location based on your IP
Other things you give directly:
- When you leave a comment
- If you sign up for emails
- When you submit a form
- If you write for us
You decide what you share. We never ask for stuff we don’t actually need. We also don’t do sketchy workarounds to find it either.
2. How We Use What You Give
Not everything collected ends up getting used. We focus on what helps us make the site smoother, funner, smarter.
Here’s what might happen with the info:
- Make the site faster
- Help you find what you’re after
- Count how many people love a page
- Block bots
- Answer your messages
- Improve recipe suggestions
- Keep everything secure
- Show only things relevant to you
Our goal’s not to follow you around the internet or push junk in your face. We don’t serve shady ads. We don’t retarget. What happens here, stays here, mostly.
3. Cookies Taste Better Than They Sound
Cookies aren't food here. They're small files stored on your device to help the site function properly. Sometimes they remember settings or keep you logged in. Sometimes they help us understand traffic. We use a mix of session cookies (gone when you close your tab) and persistent ones (stick around until they expire).
We also use third-party cookies. Those come from services we use to improve stuff, like Google Analytics. They help us see patterns but never show us your name or where you live.
You can turn cookies off in your browser if you're into that sort of thing. Just remember: some parts of the site might not work right after.
4. Third-Party Tools We Trust
We don’t build everything ourselves. Sometimes we use other services to handle parts of the site. Some of those include:
- Email list managers
- Comment platforms
- Analytics tools
- Hosting services
- Content delivery networks
These services only get what they need to do their job. We vet them for privacy compliance and expect them to follow rules as tight as ours. They don't get free reign or long-term access.
Some tools we use may gather anonymous data. That stuff helps us improve. It never identifies anyone personally.
5. Where Your Info Goes
Most of our services are based in places like the U.S. or Europe. If you’re somewhere else, your data might cross borders. When it does, it still gets protected. We don’t skimp on safety just because it left your country.
We also don’t keep stuff forever. Some info gets deleted automatically. Some things get anonymized for long-term stats. You can always ask us to remove whatever you don’t want stored.
6. Keeping It Safe
Data leaks are awful. We want no part in them. So we do our best to keep your info locked down with:
- Secure servers
- Password protection
- Access limits
- HTTPS encryption
- Regular security checks
No system is perfect. But we build with caution, not just convenience. We don’t store credit card numbers or anything wild like that either.
7. You’re In Control
You’re not just a passive visitor here. You have choices. You get to say:
- Don’t track me
- Delete my stuff
- Show me what you’ve got on me
- Stop sending emails
- Edit or fix your info
If you’re in certain regions, like California or the EU, your rights may go further. We honor those without making you jump through hoops.
Use the site how you want. Be curious. Be anonymous. Or be engaged and part of the chaos. Up to you.
8. Email and Subscriptions
If you sign up for emails, you’ll only get what you asked for, nothing extra. Recipes, updates, weird ideas, maybe a surprise. That’s it.
You can unsubscribe at any time with one click. We don’t beg. We don’t guilt trip. We don’t hide unsubscribe links. That’s not our vibe.
9. Kids and Teens
We don’t knowingly collect info from anyone under 13. If you’re younger than that, don’t send us personal data. If you’re a parent and think your child did send something, tell us, we’ll remove it fast.
If you’re between 13 and 18, don’t share private info unless your parent or guardian says it’s cool. Even then, don’t overshare. The internet remembers things forever.
10. California Privacy Rights
California residents get special rights under a law called the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We take it seriously. If you live in California, here’s what you can do:
- Ask what personal data we collected
- Request deletion
- Find out why it was collected
- Know who we shared it with (if anyone)
- Say no to selling data (we don’t sell, but still)
You can ask for this info once every 12 months. We won’t treat you differently for asking.
11. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers send something called a Do Not Track (DNT) signal. Right now, websites aren’t required to respond. We don’t currently react to those signals, but we keep an eye on the rules. If things change, we’ll update this page.
12. Changes Happen
Privacy stuff evolves. When laws shift or we adjust our tools, we’ll update this page. You’ll always see the latest version right here. The date at the top tells you when the last change went live.
If anything big happens, we’ll post a note on the site. We want everyone to know, not just lawyers.
13. If Something Feels Off
Trust your gut. If anything seems weird, off, or suspicious about how your data might be used, reach out. This site’s built on mutual trust. If we miss something or need to fix a hole, we’ll take it seriously.
Privacy shouldn’t be this long, right? But here we are. Because it matters.
We built mischief.sg to be weird, bold, and honest. That includes how we treat your info. No tricks. No dark patterns. No techy fine print meant to confuse you.
You're not data. You’re a guest.
