DMCA Policy for mischief.sg
Welcome to Our DMCA Corner
Hey, welcome! You’ve reached the spot where we talk copyright. We’re mischief.sg, a recipe site that mixes flavor with fun. Everything we publish is either written by our crew or shared by folks who’ve got full permission. We put effort into making sure things stay fair and respectful. Sometimes, though, stuff slips through. A photo ends up on a page without asking. A paragraph sounds too close to someone else’s blog. If you spot something that doesn’t belong, we want to fix it fast.
This page walks you through what to do if you see your copyrighted work used on mischief.sg without permission. We follow the rules under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), which gives creators a way to report and remove content that shouldn't be there. It also gives users a chance to respond if they think their stuff was taken down unfairly. Both sides matter. We listen to both.
Let’s get into how this works.
What Counts as Copyrighted?
Quick one, almost anything original that someone made and put effort into can be protected by copyright. That includes:
- Written text
- Photos
- Recipes (only the exact wording, not the idea itself)
- Videos
- Logos
- Illustrations
- Artwork
- Music or sound clips
If you made something and you didn’t give us (or anyone else) permission to use it, and you see it on our site, that’s where this policy comes in. If someone else posted it without asking you first, we’re here to help clear that up.
Why We Take Copyright Seriously
We’re not just being polite. Copyright isn’t a side issue, it’s core to what we do. We believe creativity deserves credit. That includes yours.
Removing content isn’t about finger-pointing. It’s about fairness. If someone misuses your original work, you have every right to speak up. Same goes if someone accuses you and you believe it’s a mistake, there’s a process for that too.
We built mischief.sg to share joy, not take shortcuts. So if anything feels off, we want to know.
What To Do If You See Your Work Here
If you spot something that belongs to you, a photo, an article, a video, and you didn’t give anyone here permission to post it, send us a takedown request. Here’s what we need from you:
- Your full name.
- Your contact info. An email address and/or phone number.
- A description of your copyrighted work. Let us know what it is, how you created it, and why it belongs to you.
- The exact URL where your content shows up on our site. Copy and paste the link.
- A statement that says you didn’t give permission for us to use it and that you believe your copyright has been violated.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that everything you’re saying is true and correct.
- Your signature. Digital or typed is fine.
Send Your Claim To
Send your complaint by email or post. Here’s where to reach us:
Email: dmca@mischief.sg
Phone: (852) 5228 0011
Mailing Address: Rm. C, 10th Floor, 1-3 San Lau Street, Hung Hom, Hong Kong
We’ll get back to you fast — usually within 48 hours. If we need extra details, we’ll ask. If we agree that your content shouldn’t be there, we’ll take it down right away.
What Happens After That?
Once we receive a valid DMCA notice, here’s what happens:
- We check your request. We make sure everything is complete and accurate.
- If we agree that there’s been a violation, we take the content down or block access right away.
- We notify the person who posted the content so they know what happened and why.
- If the person believes the removal was wrong, they can send a counter-notice. We’ll explain that next.
How To Respond If Your Content Got Removed
If you received a notice from us and believe your content got removed unfairly, you can respond with what’s called a counter-notice. Here’s what to include:
- Your full name and contact info.
- What was removed and where it was originally posted.
- A statement saying you believe the removal was a mistake or that you had the right to use the content.
- A statement saying you consent to the jurisdiction of your local court, and will accept service of legal papers if the person who filed the complaint decides to sue.
- Your signature. Digital or typed is okay.
Where To Send Counter Notices
Same as before:
Email: dmca@mischief.sg
Phone: (852) 5228 0011
Mailing Address: Rm. C, 10th Floor, 1-3 San Lau Street, Hung Hom, Hong Kong
Once we get your counter-notice, we’ll forward it to the person who made the original complaint. If they don’t file a lawsuit within 14 business days, we may restore your content.
No Room For Repeat Offenders
If someone keeps posting stuff they’re not allowed to, we may ban them. That’s not something we do lightly. We want mischief.sg to be a fun, fair place for everyone. If a user keeps breaking the rules, we step in. Multiple offenses may mean losing the right to post here.
Don’t Fake a Claim, Please
Filing a false DMCA report is a serious thing. If you lie about ownership, or if you try to remove someone’s content just because you don’t like them, there could be legal consequences. That includes damages, fees, maybe more. Respect goes both ways. We respect creators. We expect the same from people who use our platform.
What About Mashups, Remixes, Fan Works?
Things get tricky. Sometimes content looks like a copy but it’s really a mashup or a parody. Other times, someone’s work might be “inspired by” another but still original. We check each report one by one. No copy-paste responses. No instant decisions. We go through everything with care.
We ask for patience while we do that. We’d rather be right than fast.
What About Recipes?
Great question. Recipes are a little different. The ingredients list? Not copyrightable. The step-by-step instructions and personal commentary? That’s protected. So if someone lifts a whole paragraph of your original wording or steals your storytelling voice, that’s a problem. If someone just uses the same ingredients with different instructions, that might be fine.
We look closely at recipe complaints to make sure we’re judging fairly.
User-Generated Content: Who's Responsible?
Users post a lot of content to our platform. That includes comments, blog-style posts, photos, tips, and more. We don’t monitor everything before it goes live, we’re not bots. But if someone flags a piece of content that looks sketchy, we’ll take a look fast.
Our system is built to be reactive, once we know about a possible issue, we jump on it. If you see something that feels wrong, report it. The sooner we know, the sooner we can help.
We’re Not Giving Legal Advice
Let’s be clear, we’re not lawyers. What we write here is based on DMCA law and best practice, but if you’re unsure about your rights, talk to someone who practices law. We don’t give official legal guidance.
This page is here to help you understand how mischief.sg handles copyright. It doesn’t replace professional advice.
Policy Changes
Laws change. So do platforms. If something shifts in DMCA rules or if we adjust how we handle copyright issues, we’ll update this page. You’ll always find the latest version here, no guessing.
When we change something major, we’ll do our best to let users know.
We respect artists, writers, photographers, cooks, and all kinds of makers. If your content appears here without your green light, we want to fix it. Fast.
If you feel someone got flagged unfairly, we’ll help sort that too.
At mischief.sg, sharing is the whole idea, but only the kind that comes with permission.
